Teenage girls who have experienced sexual trauma and abuse are at risk for developing many different types of disorders and addictions. They can often experience suicidal thoughts, depression, psychological disorders, addiction to different drugs, an over reliance on sex and reckless sexual behavior.
Young women who are experiencing any of these issues are in a fragile state of mind and they should be enrolled into a program that can help. A quality therapy program can provide them with a healing process so they can move on towards living a normal life, away from the demons of their past.
STAR Guides offers a unique therapeutic wilderness expedition that is especially designed for teenage girls, who are struggling with various behavioral issues. This program is one the very few in the country that is specifically created to help young women deal with their sexual behavior problems.
A representative of STAR Guides, Kena Frey (clinical psychotherapist) described the specialized program, saying, “STAR Guides is one of very few programs nationally with a specialty for treating teen girls struggling with sexual behavior problems. Often due to their own trauma and abuse, young women who exhibit a pattern of reckless or promiscuous sexual behavior are prime candidates for this program.”
At STAR Guides wilderness therapy, youth who have experienced sexual trauma or abuse in their life can begin to heal and learn to live with their past. They experience a wilderness setting and are under the constant supervision of an experienced professional. They take part in intensive individual, group and family therapy sessions in the program, which helps them deal with their problematic behavior and their traumatic past.
STAR Guides’ therapists are experienced professionals, who have years of experience in dealing with adolescents and teenage girls with abuse issues, and manifestation of detrimental behaviors as a result. The therapists use the wilderness learning experience and create an environment for the young females in which they focus on the formation of a new identity that is based on competence and success.
Teenage girls between the ages of 13-17 and young adults aged 18-25, who are exhibiting behavioral issues stemming from sexual abuse are ideal candidates for this program. The therapy program also lets participants gain academics credits in different subjects. Young women enrolled in this program are able to repair their identity and shed the behavior that is negatively effective their lives.
