Therapy Associates is thrilled to announce that STAR Guides Wilderness has been officially licensed by the State of Utah as an Outdoor Youth Treatment program.
Unique to the youth treatment industry and the first of its kind anywhere in the world, STAR Guides provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment and treatment of compulsive sexual behavior problems including pornography addiction and sexual offending behavior.
The program founders Dan Sanderson, Matt Bulkley and Kena Frey share a strong belief that the wilderness is the ideal venue for treating sexual behavior problems and that their program has the capacity to change young lives in a far greater manner than what other forms of treatment can provide. Regardless of past behaviors, the founders believe that all youth can learn to achieve healthy sexuality.
Research studies have concluded that many problem sexual behaviors first manifest during the teen years. STAR Guides has been specifically designed to disrupt these patterns in the adolescent years before the problems become pervasive and ingrained behaviors.
Matt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been working in the field of youth treatment and psychotherapy since 1995. He did his undergraduate work at BYU and earned his M.S.W. at the University of Utah. He has worked in a variety of treatment setting in his career ranging from wilderness therapy and residential treatment to outpatient treatment and state government.
